Experimental Sculptures : negative space, repetition and focal point
Focal Point Sculpture : wood, hot glue, masking tape, ink, wood glue
Negative Space Sculpture : wood, wood glue, string, masking tape, wire, gel medium, tracing paper, ink
Repetition Sculpture : wood, string, wood glue, hot glue
The three sculptures visually communicate complexity forming from simple objects. While exploring the materials to build the sculptures, I wanted to focus on making some element of symmetry because there is much complexity to all of them. I decided to have one element occur multiple times in each piece, whether it be color, shape or size. I felt the work was not producing the results I wanted so I added little elements of texture. I want to keep exploring complexity formed from simple objects. I want to learn more about making an abstract piece come together and feel complete. This piece allowed me to explore ways to combine objects that are very different from each other. The making of this work exposed new ideas such as unique use of texture, color, and shapes.
